Face valued at ₪11.80, corresponding to the postage rate for domestic priority 100-300g mail, the stamp depicts an image of Beethoven based on a portrait of him by Joseph Karl Stieler and the iconic opening notes of Beethoven's Symphony No. 5 in C minor, Op. 67. The tab below the stamp proper illustrates the opening notes of Symphony No. 5's second subject and features a "Philately Day" inscription indicating that proceeds from the stamp's sale go to the Philately Promotion Foundation. The tab below the stamp depicts the Mikve Israel emblem -- a farmer holding a seed basket in a plowed field, an ear of wheat on the right, and an olive branch on the left. Green, off-white, yellow, and blue are the stamp's prominent colors. Face valued at ₪8.30, the stamp features an image of Chaim Weizmann (1874-1952), Israel's first president, holding out a hand from which five glowing symbols float up in a stream of light. The five symbols are an acetone molecule, symbolizing chemistry, the Greek letter Pi, symbolizing mathematics and computer science, a DNA strand, symbolizing biology, a model of the atom, symbolizing physics, and a graduation cap, symbolizing education. The stamp was designed by Ronen Goldberg , whose extensive resume with Israel Post as a stamp artist stretches back to 1994.
